An infinity mirror cube is a small lamp with mirrored glass on the inside of each face and LED strips along the edges. The light bounces between the mirrors again and again, so the cube looks like an endless tunnel of light. They are also called 4D cubes, 5th dimension lamps or interstellar cubes.
How the infinity effect works
Each face is a semi-reflective mirror: it reflects most of the light back inside but lets some through to your eye. Every reflection is a little smaller and dimmer than the last, which your brain reads as depth. Six faces reflecting at once creates the effect of a cube that goes on forever.
The Interstellar Cube infinity mirror lamp
| Type | 4D infinity mirror cube lamp |
|---|---|
| Size | About 9.5 cm |
| Power | Built-in rechargeable battery, USB-C charging |
| Control | Touch dimming |
The Interstellar Cube runs on its own battery, so there is no cable on your desk and you can move it from room to room. Touch dimming lets you set it bright for a desk or soft for a bedside.
Where to put one
On a desk, bedside table or bookshelf, ideally in a dim room where the depth effect shows best. They make a popular gift for gamers, sci-fi fans and anyone setting up a new room.
